Voted - That Robert Burnet, Thurston Wood and William Houston be a committee to confer with the Overseers of the Poor relative to arrangements to be made for the poor & poor house and to use their own descretion.

A.D. 1823 town meeting continued

Voted - That the Overseers of the Poor and committee as aforsaid be authorized to make contracts for the support of the poor for one, two or three years from this day with any person or persons that may agree to support the same, subject to the control of said Overseers of the Poor to annul the same, or might to comply with the terms agreed on by the parties.

Also that the sum of one thousand dollars be raised by way of tax for the support of the poor this year and for other purposes.

Adjourned to the first Tuesday of April nest to meet at the usual place.

The Overseers of the Poor and the Committee as aforesaid met on the 2nd day of April instant and entered into article with James and William Stewart to support all the poor belonging and may here after belong to the town from the day of the date of said article for and during three years at the yearly sum of six hundred dollars to be paid annually and to embrance all expenses whatever - reference being that to said Article will more fully appear.

.Voted - That the Commissioners and Inspectors of Common Schools shall have for their services fifty cents a day.

Voted - That there shall be a committee of three to inspect the poor house with the Overseers of the Poor, and to have nothing for their services and to meet quarterly and fifty cents penalty for non attendance.

Voted - That Samuel Nichols, William Houston and John Coleman Jr. be that committee.

Voted - That no amount be paid by the Overseers of the Poor til audited on the last Tuesday in March by the board authorized by law.

Voted - That the sum of 1000 dollars be raised for support of the poor.

Voted - That buck sheep is not to run at large from the 4th of August to the 1st of November under the penalty of five dollars.

Voted - That any person may alter any boar runing at large.

Voted - That three persons be elected to visit the poor house as a committee and there compensation to be onedollar per day when attending.

Voted - That William Houston, Samuel Lockwood and Samuel Nichols be that committee.

Voted -That the Inspectors of Common Schools to have the same pay as Commissioners of Common Schools are entitled to when employed.

Voted -That no person owning or occuppying 100 acres of land to let his cattle run on the commons under the penalty of fifty cents for each beast when collected to be paid to the Overseers of the Poor for the support of the poor.

Voted - That the Supervisor be authorized to use influence and vote when in meeting of the Board of Supervisor of the County in favor of erecting a County poor house.

Voted - That the surplus of 100 dollars paid to the town by the reputed father of a bastard child after deducting all that hath been paid and all other expenses concerning said bastard child, be paid to the mother Fanny Fields.

Voted - That the sum of sixty dollars be made up by the town with the sum James Stewart pays for the present year for the support of Thomas Nicholson.

Voted - That thirty two dollars and fifty cents be paid to Samuel Doxy for the past year.

Voted - That the sum of eight hundred dollars be raised for the support of the poor for the present year.

Resolved - That buck sheep shall not run at large from the first of August till the first of November in each year under the penalty of five dollars.

Resolved - That boars above three months old running at large the owner subject to a fine of one dollar for each time.

Resolved - That Hamilton Morrison, John Coleman Jr., Daniel Mores and John D Nicoll be the fence viewers for this year.

Resolved - That the sum of seven hundred dollars be raised for the support of the poor the insuing year.

Resolved - That the Collector shall have but three per cent for collecting the insuing year.

Resolved - That a committee of five be appointed to draft a remonstration against erecting a new town , and the Robert Sly , Ezra Keeler, Hamilton Morrison, John H Walsh and William Mulliner be that committee.

Resolved - that a committee of five be appointed to meet with committees of different towns agreeable to resolution passed at a publick meeting in the Towns of Minisink and Bloomingrove to view the Court House and to take into consideration the properity of repairing the same.

Resolved - that Joseph T Houston, Hamilton Morrison, John Kernaghan, John H Walsh and Charles Ludlow be that committee.

Resolved - That eighty dollars be allowed for the support of Thomas Nicholson.

Resolved - That the town disapprove of the formation of a new town in the county according to the notice read.
