What is NWPD C-I-N?
The New Windsor Police Critical Information Network is an internet based community watch program, designed to help keep our citizens and visitors safe. It was implemented in an attempt to inform the general public of critical incidents as they happen. For example: a missing or abducted child would trigger the New York State Amber Alert System however this triggering takes time to implement. While that process is underway an e-mail and or text message can be sent real time, to all who elect to become a part of our alert system, thereby filling the gap between receiving the initial report and activation of the Amber Alert. This system will also be used to proactively alert the public of the following occurrences:
* Missing or Abducted Children or Elderly
* Sex Offender Notification
* Suspicious Criminal Activity
* Severe or Dangerous Weather
* Any other annoucement critical to public safety
Why NWPD C-I-N?
We realize, that as a law enforcement agency, we are only as effective is the information that we receive, and the timely manner in which we receive it. We are confident that this new form of expedient notification will not only help us protect our population, both resident and transient, but will also provide us with critical information needed to better serve the public.

New Windsor Police Department’s Wireless Critical Public Information Network is for information dissemination purposes only. It is not intended as a substitute for regular use or implementation of law enforcement, safety or other security procedures; further, it does not guarantee either a more rapid law enforcement, safety or security response or a more favorable outcome or result than expected of traditional law enforcement, safety or security measures.
Due to the nature of wireless communications and the potential number of agencies or individuals who may receive communications from the New Windsor Police Department’s Wireless Critical Public Information Network, the New Windsor Police Department does not and will not guarantee or warranty that any or all of the information generated or disseminated will become available in such time or fashion that any recipient does or should expect or anticipate a law enforcement, safety or security outcome different from that expected through the use of traditional law enforcement, safety or security personnel or procedures had the Wireless Critical Public Information Network not been employed.
In addition, the rapid release of information is vital to the success of New Windsor Police Department’s Wireless Critical Public Information Network. Because inaccuracies in initial reports to law enforcement, safety and security agencies can occur, New Windsor Police Department cannot and will not guarantee the accuracy of the information it or reports relays.
