WATER CONSERVATION -TOWN OF NEW WINDSOR
The Town of New Windsor has received notification from the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) that the Catskill Aqueduct will be closed beginning on October 9, 2016 for routine maintenance. The Catskill Aqueduct is the main source of water for the Town. It is anticipated that the closure will be in place for approximately 14 days. The temporary closure also affects the City of Newburgh.
Therefore, effective immediately and until further notice, I George A. Green, Supervisor of the Town of New Windsor, declare that pursuant to New Windsor Town Code Section 287-37, Stage I water conservation measures are to take effect on OCTOBER 8, 2016 and will remain in effect until further notice.
Stage I water restrictions, include but are not limited to the following:
1. Washing of any motor vehicle, street, sidewalk, driveway or outdoor area by means of an active source connected to the Town of New Windsor water system.
2. The watering of any lawns, shrubs, plants or trees except between the hours of 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 am. and 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
3. The filling of swimming pools.
4. The opening or use of a fire hydrant for purposes other than fire protection, unless by permit.
